01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Delima Sayang Curry House is a charming South Indian restaurant tucked away at 1, Jalan A, Taman Batu, Kuala Lumpur, inviting lovers of authentic, home-cooked flavors to indulge in a truly comforting culinary experience. This unpretentious eatery captures the essence of traditional South Indian cuisine through dishes that burst with vibrant spices and hearty textures, offering a taste of the motherland with every bite.

The menu shines brightest with classic staples such as crispy, golden-toasted thosai paired with rich, aromatic sambar and dhal curry that’s lovingly poured to meld flavors — a favorite among regulars. The sambal here strikes a perfect balance, with just enough kick to awaken the palate without overwhelming it. Perhaps one of the most memorable highlights is their legendary teh C tarik, especially when you ask for it “kaw” — thick, frothy, and robustly flavored, delivering a comforting warmth that complements the meal perfectly.

Dining at Delima Sayang is an experience steeped in warmth and homeliness. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, supported by attentive waitstaff like Hassan, who make you feel immediately welcome. The eatery ensures a peaceful environment without the usual bustling noise, making it an excellent spot for a casual meal or late-night cravings. The traditional stainless steel tiered stand displaying freshly prepared dishes adds an authentic touch, evoking a strong sense of nostalgia and trust in the freshness of each plate.

Though the venue is modest, it proudly enforces meticulous COVID SOPs, showcasing a commitment to customer safety without compromising the inviting, motherly vibe maintained by the staff. For those seeking solace in straightforward, flavorful South Indian cooking paired with swift, genuine service, Delima Sayang Curry House stands out as a cherished gem in Kuala Lumpur’s diverse food scene.

The staff Hassan is a very nice decent guy. Friendly and helpful. Good for late night eats. The toilet however is not that good. At night, you have to go to the back (outdoor) of the shop, when the indoor toilet is not allowed. Really, tho?

We ordered a 70-pax vegetarian lunch meal for our Navarathiri Annadhanam, and the food was absolutely delicious! All our temple devotees kept asking which catering we chose, everyone truly enjoyed the meal. The delivery was perfectly on time, and we even received complimentary papadom and injipuli. The price is very reasonable, and we’ve been ordering from them for many years now. Highly recommended!
